About Christopher

Since 1990, Christopher McKillop and Vox Populi Communications have generated a diverse array of results for clients.  Here are some examples.

Much More Than Writing and Editing for the International Labour Organization (ILO)

This UN agency based in Geneva, Switzerland contracted with Vox Populi Communications for what was originally projected to be a relatively simple editing job on the formal ILO two-year strategic plan in 2000.  As the ILO was only just introducing a results-based management (RBM) approach to planning and reporting, Christopher saw quickly that ILO staff needed substantial guidance and support to develop effective plans with clear performance indicators and targets.  Drawing on an extensive experience with planning and reporting documents, Christopher helped ILO employees increase their understanding of RBM approaches and practices.  The immediate result was more than a final document that was recognized as a major improvement over previous editions -- it included a broader base of knowledge within the organization about effective planning, target-setting and reporting on outcomes.  Christopher has returned to Geneva regularly since for related writing and editing projects -- and to develop, edit and deliver RBM training sessions and learning materials.

Opening the Department of Justice's Window on the World

The International Legal Programs Section in the Department of Justice, Canada contracted with Vox Populi Communications in 2008 to prepare printed materials and web content.  They needed up-to-date materials that would convey their role to a range of audiences inside and outside the department.  They particularly wanted to demonstrate their contributions to justice sector reform internationally in ways that would resonate with readers.  The result was print and web content that tells stories effectively and shows what this program is helping to accomplish in many countries.

Communicating Results for the National Research Council

NRC institutes are helping communities across Canada foster advanced technology clusters for economic development.  The NRC works with local stakeholders to build local and Canadian competitiveness in fields ranging from photonics to fuel cells to aluminum transformation.  NRC contracted with Vox Populi for the extensive updating of 11 fact sheets on the NRC role in cluster communities as well as a related magazine in 2008 and then 2009.  Each project came in on time and well under budget.

Charting a Course for Commercialization of Research in Canada

Industry Canada contracted with Vox Populi Communications in 2005 for writing and editing services to support the Expert Panel on Commercialization that its Minister had launched.  Composed of leaders from Canada's business and academic worlds, the Expert Panel generated strategies and ideas to improve the country's capacity to generate business opportunities from the research taking place in universities and the public and private sectors.  Christopher McKillop worked with the Chair, Panel members and Industry Canada staff to ensure that the Panel's report would meet the needs of all its participants effectively -- a goal that was achieved.
